This website isn’t dead.
In some respects, my brain has been dead. I’ve been going through one of the most difficult periods of my life—and weathering a series of psychiatric medication changes to survive it.
The bad news is it’s resulted in a substantial amount of writer’s block.
The good news is it’s given me no other option but to lean into other forms of art as outlets.
I decided to do another couple of drawings for the free gift exchange I participated in two months ago.
I didn’t go to last month’s event because it fell on Memorial Day weekend. This time around, it’s falling on Pride Parade Day in the city, so I used that as inspiration for a drawing.
Last but not least, I finally finished the painting I started shortly after I arrived in Colorado. Technically, it became more of a mixed media piece by the time I was finished.
In the end, rhinestones and shards of glass were used, in addition to acrylic paint and impasto (and hot glue, if you count that).
I found the broken glass in two Tupperware containers at a used art supply store. In short, I spent all of last night playing with sharp objects.
I have an idea of what I want to work on next, but I’m not sure if time will permit. I’m getting ready to travel and move in August, and I would also need another canvas to start.
We’ll see how July starts to shake out and we will know soon enough.
